Algal blooms are a major headache for lake owners anfd fisheries managers. The potential for dangerous fluctuations in dissolved oxygen levels and the risk of an oxygen 'crash' should the algal bloom die off rapidly is obviously of great concern. Blue-green algae brings additional problems such as the fear of toxic effects on livestock, pets and even humans.
Blueroof can visit your site and identify the algae causing any bloom or scum, in most cases there and then. A sample may be taken back to our laboratory to allow a count of algal cell numbers to be made.
Advice can be given on methods of:
- Minimising the risk of an algal bloom forming.
- Safely and effectively reducing algae once present.
- Ensuring users of the lake are not put at risk.
